Every shift, many rooms, one order
Workforce Camps & Job Sites
Used gym equipment for crew quarters, remote job sites and plant fitness rooms
Camps and plants tend to equip many rooms at once, on a budget that favors used. Operators housing crews for oil and gas, pipeline, mining and data center construction, and plants running shift workforces, can quote every room from live inventory: pre-owned commercial cardio and strength, one delivered price to the site, and a stated condition tier and warranty on each machine. Since 2012, Discount Online Fitness has outfitted spaces like these nationwide from its DFW Airport, Texas warehouse.
This page is for the operator that buys its own equipment — a camp operator, a contractor housing its own crew near the work, a plant outfitting a gym for its shifts — without a facility-management company buying for it. Those rooms are used by people whose work is physical, at every hour a rotation allows, and they rarely come one at a time: a second camp or another plant usually follows the first. Serviced commercial machines from stock fit that brief. A full design and build-out of a new camp or plant fitness center routes to our sister company Fit Supply rather than being quoted as a DOF capability.
The build guide
How to equip camp, crew-quarters and plant gyms with used commercial equipment
A gym at a workforce camp or a plant is used by people whose job is physical, on rotations that keep the room busy from before the day shift starts until after the night shift ends. It is often one of several rooms the same operator has to equip — another camp, a second plant, a crew house near a new job — and it is bought from an operating budget, often against the date the crews arrive. Those facts point at pre-owned commercial equipment: frames built for continuous use, in stock rather than on order, at a price that lets the budget reach every room.
An oilfield water-services company in Texas bought a full gym through us in 2026. Below is how we plan these rooms: sizing to the shift change rather than the bed count, what fits in a crew-quarters room, a camp fitness center and a plant gym, the equipment that takes round-the-clock use, and how we help from a site address to a delivered room — with a full camp or plant design handed to our sister company Fit Supply.
Design
Designing for shift rotations, remote sites and more than one room
Six decisions that produce a room a crew actually uses and an order the next site can repeat.
Size to the shift change, not the bed count
Count the people who will be in the room at its busiest hour — usually the hour after a shift ends — and plan 25–50 sq ft per station within it, the range ACSM publishes for fitness floors. A camp running two rotations does not need a station for every bed; it needs enough for the crowd that walks in together.
Strength and conditioning for physical work
Crews that lift, climb and carry for a living lean toward racks, plate-loaded strength, air bikes and rowers. Keep treadmills, ellipticals and bikes for the people who want steady cardio after a long shift, and put duplicates of whatever draws a queue.
Power is the scarce resource
Each commercial treadmill needs its own dedicated 120 V 20 A circuit with a NEMA 5-20R outlet and an isolated neutral and ground. A modular building or a site on generator power may have few circuits to spare, so confirm them with the site electrician before choosing cardio. Air bikes, rowers, curved manual treadmills and self-powered ellipticals and bikes need no outlet at all.
Measure the building, not just the room
Modular units, skid buildings and converted rooms bring low ceilings, narrow doors and floors with a weight limit. Measure the ceiling before choosing a stair climber, the narrowest door on the route before choosing anything, and ask the building’s manufacturer or engineer what the floor carries — a selectorized machine with its stack weighs 500–900 lb.
Rubber before the machines
Rubber goes down first: 3/8–1/2 in under racks and free weights, 8 mm under cardio and selectorized. In a modular unit it also spreads the load and keeps dropped iron off a floor that was never built for it. Flooring runs through Fit Supply, since it is not in our own catalog.
Plan the second room with the first
An operator with more than one site should buy the first room as a package it can repeat: models that turn up often in the used market, the same tier choices, and a per-machine record of what was bought, so the next site is a repeat order rather than a fresh search.
What fits
What fits: crew quarters, camp and plant
Three rooms that buy differently. Each mix is quoted from the live inventory further down.
The crew-quarters room
One modular unit or a spare room · a single crew
A contractor housing its own crew near the work, or a small camp with one rec space and a handful of circuits.
- A half rack or power rack, an adjustable bench, a bar and bumper plates
- An air bike and a rower, both self-powered
- One treadmill on its own circuit, if the building has one to spare
- Dumbbells on a rack, kettlebells, rubber flooring
Condition tier: As-Is on the dumbbells, plates and rack — solid metal with nothing to service — and Cleaned & Serviced on the cardio; the savings buy a second conditioning piece.
The camp fitness center
A dedicated gym building or a wing of the rec hall · two rotations
Remote workforce lodging for oil and gas, pipeline, mining or data center construction crews, busy from before the day shift until after the night shift.
- A cardio bank: treadmills on dedicated circuits, ellipticals, upright and recumbent bikes, air bikes, rowers
- Two racks, or a rack and a Smith machine, plus a plate-loaded press and row and a functional trainer
- Selectorized pulldown/row, press and leg stations for people training alone
- A full dumbbell run, kettlebells, plate storage, rubber zoned under the free weights
Condition tier: Remanufactured on the treadmills and ellipticals that run every rotation, Cleaned & Serviced on the strength, As-Is on the iron; quoted as one package the next camp can repeat.
The plant fitness room
A room inside the plant or an adjoining building · a shift workforce
Manufacturing plants and industrial sites where every shift change brings a new crowd, bought from the site’s operating budget.
- Treadmills, an elliptical and a bike for the cardio crowd
- A functional trainer and selectorized stations that need no spotter
- A rack, a bench and a dumbbell run for the lifters
- Rubber flooring and a stretch area with mats
Condition tier: Cleaned & Serviced across most of the room, since it is bought on function; Remanufactured on the front cardio if the room is also shown to new hires.

Treadmills and ellipticals for every rotation
The cardio a crew uses most. Give each treadmill its own circuit, and lean on self-powered ellipticals where circuits are scarce.

How we help
How we help — from a site address to a delivered room
Remote sites and plants run on their own rules for access, safety and timing. The process is built around them.
- 1
Send the rooms, the rotations and the site
How many rooms, their dimensions and ceiling heights, how many people come off each shift, the circuits available, and the site address with its access rules — gate, check-in, the road in, who unloads. We check footprints and power against each room before anything is quoted.
Equipment consultation → - 2
One quote for every room
Each room assembled from live inventory and quoted together, every machine with its condition tier and warranty stated on the quote. An operator buying in quantity can work from the Dealer Program’s live inventory list and volume pricing.
Procurement & sourcing → - 3
Freight to the site, not a generic estimate
Delivery is quoted against the real site address and access. Standard delivery is curbside; inside delivery is sometimes available depending on the area, commercial installation runs through Fit Supply’s install teams, and freight insurance is available as an add-on.
Delivery & installation → - 4
Financing, warranty and service after
Financing is available on qualified purchases — raise it early, because it changes how many rooms and which tier a budget covers. Both serviced tiers carry a parts-and-labor warranty, and in Texas On Site Fitness Service can maintain the rooms on a schedule.

A full build-out goes to Fit Supply
A new camp or plant fitness center designed from the floor plan up — layout, flooring, new equipment and installation — is our sister company Fit Supply’s work. We hand it over on the first call rather than quote around it, and supply the pre-owned side of the same job if it needs one.

Avoid these
The mistakes that cost a camp or plant twice
Each one is cheaper to fix on the quote than on site.
Sizing to the bed count
A room built for every bed is oversized and still crowded at shift change. Size it to the busiest hour.
Three treadmills on one circuit
Breakers trip when the night shift comes off. One dedicated 20 A circuit per treadmill, or self-powered cardio where the circuits are not there.
Ordering before the building is set
Equipment held at your request more than ten days past its scheduled delivery is subject to a storage fee, and past thirty days a 10% restocking fee as well. Schedule delivery for when the room is ready.
Picking up on a company truck to save freight
Pickup at our DFW warehouse costs nothing, but picked-up equipment carries no warranty, whatever its tier. Orders can mix both: plates and benches on your truck, the cardio delivered under warranty.
Nobody there to sign for the freight
Damage has to be noted with the carrier at delivery, before signing. A remote site needs someone on hand who knows to look.
Why we can say this
An oilfield water-services company in Texas bought a full gym through DOF in 2026, and our sister company Fit Supply designs and installs fitness centers nationwide, including plant gyms for multi-shift manufacturing workforces and fitness rooms for energy companies. Sizing a plant room to every shift change is the rule it plans to.
The scope
What we handle for Workforce Camps & Job Sites
Procurement
Every room quoted from one live inventory list, with matched models where you want each site to look the same. Operators buying in quantity can use the Dealer Program’s volume pricing, the same program gyms and resellers buy through.
Equipment consultation
Which machines hold up to crews training at every hour, which can run on a building’s limited circuits, and where As-Is iron saves money without costing anything a crew will notice.
Delivery & installation
Freight quoted to the site’s real address and access — the gate, the check-in, the road in, who unloads the truck. Standard delivery is curbside; commercial installation runs through our sister company Fit Supply’s install teams.
Finance
Financing is available on qualified purchases when a multi-room order has to spread across a budget cycle rather than land as one line item.
How we handle it
How we plan for Workforce Camps & Job Sites
Size to the shift change, not the bed count
A camp or plant gym rarely empties: one rotation trains before work, the next after it. Tell us how many people come off each shift and when, and we size the cardio and the rack count to the busiest hour rather than the total headcount.
Quote the first room so the next one repeats
When another camp or plant follows, the order should repeat rather than be re-shopped. We quote a room as a package, source the same models again from live inventory where stock allows, and say plainly when a model has sold through and what replaces it.
In short
Workforce camps, crew quarters and plant fitness rooms buy pre-owned commercial equipment because they equip many rooms at once for crews who train at every hour. DOF quotes each room from live inventory with a stated condition tier and warranty, delivers to the site, and routes a full camp or plant build-out to sister company Fit Supply.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a price break for buying in bulk?
Yes, especially for equipment purchased as-is with no service work — large commercial and dealer orders taken as-is get the deepest pricing breaks. Ask about volume pricing when you request a quote.
Do you ship gym equipment nationwide?
Yes — we ship to all 48 contiguous states from our DFW Airport, Texas warehouse. Every order is quoted as a real delivered price against your ZIP code, with commercial freight we arrange ourselves. Local pickup at the warehouse is also welcome if you'd rather come to us.
Is delivery curbside, or do you bring it inside?
Standard delivery is curbside. Inside or white-glove delivery is sometimes available depending on your service area, for an added cost — ask when you request your quote whether it's offered where you are.
Can you install it, not just deliver it?
For commercial jobs, yes — our sister company Fit Supply's install teams handle that nationally. Ask when you request your quote and we'll get you connected.
Does picking it up myself affect the warranty?
Yes — equipment you pick up from our warehouse yourself carries no warranty, regardless of condition tier. By taking pickup you're confirming you inspected it and accepted it in its current condition. Warranty coverage applies only to equipment we deliver. See our Terms and Conditions for the full policy.
Do I get a warranty on used equipment?
It depends on the condition tier. As-Is equipment carries no warranty and is sold at its stated condition. Cleaned & Serviced includes a 30-day parts-and-labor warranty. Remanufactured includes a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Full terms are in our Terms and Conditions.
